I can’t recall a time in my life where creativity didn’t feel like a long, steadying exhale.Whether I was whittling sticks as a child growing up in Alaska or blending charcoal with gritty hands today, I pursue  the space to create beauty and tell meaningful stories. I’ve been shaped by generations of pioneers and storytellers, being raised in wild places that required grit and grace to make a purposeful way forward. I’m a self taught artist, who only began focused work on visual art in the past couple of years. I write, speak, and draw as often as I can, in an attempt to combine carefully crafted words with carefully crafted images that inspire others. 

The medium that is most intuitive to me is that of charcoal. Much of my work focuses on capturing people and the stories in their faces. A face can carry decades of meaning in its lines, wrinkles, freckles and each carefully placed hair. Eyes are my favorite element to capture, as I seek to give the viewer the sense that they’re in the middle of a conversation with a living, breathing person. To say it simply, I love people, places, and the stories that go with them.
